However the issue I have is that both methods stop the 2nd "Assist" power on button from working on the laptop. Afterwards with the SSD in the laptop I power on using the normal "Power" button and the main OS is booted fine, and quick which is great.

I've tried both Automatic proportional disc cloning and Manual (where I ensure the first 4 areas are the same size as the HDD on the SSD) disc cloning. Normal Windows 7 System Disc (NTFS) ~619GBĪs it is not possible to clone in the laptop I've moved both HDD and SSD to a PC and used the AHTI 2012 recovery USB media. Recovery Partition Image (NTFS) 19.15GB GPT area 1MB (not really a partition in the truest sense) It has the following partitions in this order: The Vaio has UEFI enabled and the source HDD is in the GPT format.

Boot from your XP CD and when the initial setup starts, press F6 to load the driver and you should be in business.I'm using AHTI 2012 2.1 to replace my new laptop's 640GB hard disc with a 256GB SSD.

If your XP setup disk does not detect your SATA, try finding the drivers for it (should be on the manufacturer website, UNLESS IT'S A SONY, hey, hey). But my model has a Ultra ATA drive in it. Just did a standard installation (boot from it, deleted partition, recreate, blah, blah, blah). Everything is now working after the reboot as it was in the pre-installed Vista.īTW: I dont have a "S" button on my model.įor the install, I have a Genuine XP CD with volume license in my company. So I can't tell you exactly which one did the trick.

I had the same exact problem as you (AV button, eject, britgthness, etc buttons none operative). Morlan, I dont really know which drivers or which utily controls these buttons. I really appreciate the weekend wasted looking for drivers. And after this gets settled, I say we put up a post with links to everything, so it makes it easy for people to do in the future.Īlso a great warm thanx to Sony support staff for NOT telling anyone about this FTP site. I think that's it, but some of those you've solved already. My camera has a driver, but it won't save pictures.ĭo you have any of those drivers? What are you still missing? Some PCI device, probably the sound card.ĪV mode (I think we're hosed. half of them installed without too much hassle. I also downloaded all the "vista only" drivers from Sony's website. (Or use and return if you can.)īefore I wiped my vista install, I copied the driver directory over. It turned out to be bad, but the IT guy at work had one and I got windows on there no problem. I think we can help each other here.įirst off, I recommend you get a floppy drive. I've been doing the same thing as you, trying to get rid of this vista junk. Once again, trillion advance thanks for your help. So can you help me how can I make my XP CD recognize that internal harddisk DOES exist. ■ I want to do a fresh re-installation of XP on the Laptop but am not in a mood to throw away $150 again. ■ Can someone please pls plz help me find the drivers ( for XP) for the Camera, the AV Mode button, the S Button, Card Reader, and the Alps pointing device At the moment I have the USB's, Ethernet, Modem, and sound working but can't use the Camera, the AV Mode button, the S Button, Card Reader, and the Alps pointing device. However after having XP, I could find only some of the XP drivers for the laptop after hours and hours of searching the web.

Have no clue how he did it and he won't tell. Anyway, I paid someone $150 and he somehow installed XP. I wanted XP, so I booted from my XP CD but got to a screen where it said that no internal harddisk(s) found. To cut a long story short, I bought a Sony VAIO VGN-FZ104E Laptop which came with Vista.
